- Formed under the Co-operative Societies Act 1993 and registered as a co-operative society on 15 May 1981.
- Membership is open to all Malaysians who have attained the age of 18 years.
- Operations and activities are based on co-operative principles as well as the co-operative spirit of “Self-help and Mutual-help”.

新闻稿 自立合作社呼吁公众须慎防不法分子电讯行骗 吉隆坡1月23 日讯： 自立合作社今天发布文告呼吁公众慎防不法分子冒充该社职员行使电讯诈骗， 该社透露由于近日接获一些公众向该社核实职员身份，进而揭发有不法份子蓄意冒充该社职员向公众提供贷款。根据公众提供的线索，这些不法分子通过盗用该社的名字、商标、电邮及网址自制名片， 然后通过WhatsApp向公众索取贷款申请文件。 该社重申，该社并无委任任何代理为该社所推行的各项贷款计划招揽贷款者；
